The South District took part in the 2023 Memorial Day service at St. Albans Community Living Center. VAVS Deputy Representatives Richard Muniak and PDD Robert Giglio and VAVS Representative John Nuzzi, along with a number of Elks from the South District, attended the morning ceremony honoring all veterans, past and present.

The South District held it June 2023  BBQ for the veterans at St. Albans Community Living Center. Our Lodge, as well as Elks from NY 1 and B-Q 878, was well represented with the preparation and cooking of the foods. Thank you Don Rood, Vinny Pappa, Bill Hermann, Robert Giglio, Mike Dolan, Regina and Tony Vitale, and Frank Fox.

The Lodge paid tribute to their members who served in the military at their annual American Night social.

The Southeast District supports the Veterans of St. Albans Extended Care by holding the 2022 BBQ/Picnic on the St. Albans grounds. Every June the Lodges get together and pitch in for our hospitalized Veterans. 143 Veterans plus hospital aids and staff joined in on the festivities of the day. The Elks grilled hamburgers and hotdogs. Also included were assorted salads, bananas, jello cups and Robert Giglio’s machette cut watermelon slices. The Veterans were not allowed out to join us picnic-style so the Recreation Department delivered the food to each of the Campus Units.

The Elks that participated from our Lodge were Anthony Vitale, Frank Fox, Bill Herman, Matt Corday, Robert Giglio PDD, Brian Diaz NYSVP, and Don Rood PDD.

Vincent Papa was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for his dedicated and unselfish voluntary service to veterans and military members throughout his many years in Elkdom by then Exalted Ruler and Vet Chairman, Robert Giglio, PDDGER
